It’s been days since the turn of the year, and many of us are ready to face 2016 brimming with anticipation. Technology has surged quite drastically in recent years, and 2016 should be no different.
The world of television has seen a lot of changes and developments. Millions of TV viewers have been enjoying not only the best programs on free and cable TV but also a number of products that enhance the TV viewing experience.
You may be reading this article thinking that you’re already familiar with the existing developments in the TV industry. Then again, you might be wrong! Here are some of the ways that new TV technology can change the way you live your life this year:
Availability of online streaming services for TV
Gone are the days when you had to rush home to catch your favorite TV show on its time slot. Online streaming allows viewers to watch shows anytime after the original air time, and gives them the opportunity to watch cable programs even if they’re not subscribed to a cable package.
The popularity of online streaming services cannot be disregarded. In fact, many TV-related companies have shifted their strategies to welcome online streaming. One of the most popular developments in this area is Netflix, which has not only shifted to online streaming but has also produced its own exclusive TV shows.
All-in-one media viewing
Back in the day, watching videos via online streaming would require a digital TV and a media streaming device. However, with the rise of future TV tech, you can now do away with buying a separate media device because a smart TV can already provide the feed that you need. This means less cables and connections to deal with.
Of course, if you want to enjoy much more than what most smart TVs offer, then you might need to buy an online streaming gadget such as Google Chromecast, Roku, or Apple TV.
More choices and feature-rich bundles
Cable companies have started to offer online services bundled with their existing subscription packages, and many of them have subscription plans to fit your budget. These days, it’s easy to find a cable provider that offers a cable TV connection together with broadband Internet and online streaming services.
With these bundled services and a wide array of subscription package choices, you don’t need to find a separate provider for internet. In addition, you can even browse the Internet and watch online videos through your TV.
Stackable TVs that automatically change orientation
During the recent CES 2016 show, CNN Money reported the latest technology by TV manufacturer and tech company Samsung. Its latest technological marvel involves a TV screen that can be split into two and rotated to display a cinematic screen. In its presentation just this month, Samsung launched its “65-inch TV with a standard 16:9 aspect ratio”, which can transform into a “91-inch TV with a 21:9 aspect ratio”!
Can you imagine this kind of TV inside your home? You can watch your favorite TV programs on the 16:9 aspect ratio, and then change the screen orientation to view movies on a 21:9 aspect ratio. Amazing!
TV technology has emerged quite successfully in 2015, but 2016 promises to be as big, if not bigger. Aren’t you excited to experience a whole new level of TV watching this year?
